What is the Academy?
The Easts Rugby Academy will support 17 to 20 year old male and female Rugby players at Easts Rugby Club, Canberra. Our goal is to develop young Rugby talent at a high level, assisting players to progress into the Easts First Grade John I Dent Cup squad, Brumbies Development squads and Canberra Vikings National Rugby Championship team. With a qualified professional staff, we will provide a strong program with an environment that supports player growth both on and off the field.
Features of the Program
Players selected in the Easts Rugby Academy will receive strength and conditioning programming, as well as RugbyIQ training and skill development from October 2018 (start of Term 4) to August 2019 (John I Dent Cup finals). All players will have regular access to the Easts Rugby Club’s gym facility, along with additional skills and tactical training that is not offered to players at other clubs.
Main features of the program include:
- Professionally developed and supervised strength and conditioning programs
- 2019 fees and Club registration paid by ERUFC
- Complimentary Academy training kit
- Trial games and tournaments
- RugbyIQ training
- Physiotherapy and medical access
- Injury, health and nutrition education
- Player welfare assistance
Who can apply?
Female and male Rugby Union players aged 17 to 20 can apply. Selection in junior representative teams is beneficial; however, it is not a requirement of entry to the Academy. We are looking for players who aim to progress their Rugby to a high level, and who demonstrate a willingness to succeed and commitment to training and competition.
