Easts Break the Drought and Take the Points in Opening Round of John I Dent Cup
On a beautiful Autumn day at Griffith Oval, Easts have broken the drought and secured their 1st win in 1106 days in the John I Dent Cup. A huge crowd witnessed a tight game between Easts and Uni Norths Owls with Easts holding their nerve to close out the match. Jacob Angelatos secured the win with a conversion after George Morseu scored the teams 4th try to level the score with less than 5 minutes remaining in the match. Final score was Easts 22 - Uni Norths 20. Wild scenes erupted after the final whistle with players and spectators flooding the pitch to celebrate the win with the team. It was a great team effort with particularly strong performances from Peni Nifo, Carlos Marr and Augustine Limaleba (Gus).
Next game (14th April) is against Wests, one of last years Grand Finalists, at Jamison Oval.
In the other grades 4th Grade (RMC) had a comfortable win 26 - 0 against Uni Norths.
3rd Grade gave up an early lead to finish 14 - 14.
Colts fought hard but went down 24-17.
2nd Grade, much improved on 2017, went down 26-7.
